Technologies compared

Limpidh2o® Decomar eco-dredging and traditional dredging – let's see the differences

NON-INVASIVE WITHDRAWAL OF SEDIMENTS

The patented Limpidh2o® technology is an ecodredging system that allows the removal of sediments without contact with the seabed, maintaining a depression field around the excavation point to avoid the leak of materials and the consequent resuspension of sediments.
This aspect is decisive when operating in protected areas or in presence of contaminated agents, in fact, avoiding turbidity phenomena means avoiding the uncontrolled and uncontrollable spread of pollutants.

WITHDRAWAL AND SELECTIVE RECOVERY OF SEDIMENTS

The revolutionary Limpidh2o® technology advantageously allows the in-process dehydration and classification of sediments and the extraction of any foreign bodies (branches, wastes, chains, etc) without withdrawal of water from the water body. This innovative aspect allows a drastic reduction of volumes making the whole activity much cheaper.

TREATMENT AND RECOVERY OF UP TO 85% OF EXTRACTED MATERIALS

At the end of the dynamic dehydration system, the sediments are purified from any foreign bodies, dehydrated and classified according to the pre-set production targets, thus generating compositions of desired granulometric curves. The selective sampling is configurable according to the typical characteristics of the sediment that must be removed and the granulometric classes can be mixed and extracted from the system according to their specific reuse.

CLOSED CIRCUIT MANAGEMENT AND PROCESSING FLUID DEPURATION

The entire sediment withdrawal and extraction process takes place in a closed circuit. The circulating fluid, cyclically invested with energy, replaces the water of the water body, allowing the removal of dehydrated sediments and the total absence of waste water that would have to be disposed of.

HIGH OPERATIONAL FLEXIBILITY

One of the advantages of the Decomar technological innovation is its high operational flexibility. Unlike traditional dredging technologies, DECOMAR REMEDIATION TECHNOLOGY (DRT®) can operate safely even in the presence of foreign bodies on the seabed, such as wood, plastic and scrap, even without preventive remediation. Furthermore, the withdrawal location remains usable during the activities because the withdrawal and classification operations take place in-process on a multifunctional floating platform that only occupies a limited portion of the harbour, basin or coast.

A SYSTEM THAT DOES NOT NEED LANDFILLS

The possibility of recovering and re-using up to 85% of the extracted sediments makes it possible to avoid the construction of landfills. This aspect represents an operating advantage where there are not enough spaces for such constructions or when the context does not allow it.

Thanks to this possibility, the volumes of sediments that must be sent for treatment or reclamation are drastically reduced.
Ecodredging does not move the problem somewhere else, it solves it.
